During 2026 SHARP will be conducting new research to help improve motorcycle helmets and rider safety. We are inviting riders who have been involved in a motorcycle collision to take part in a study that will help us better understand how helmets perform in real-world crashes.

Including the lived experiences of riders enriches the insights from anonymous data. We want to know what happened to you: why the collision occurred, what injuries you sustained, your treatment, and recovery experience.

This research is being conducted by TRL Ltd on behalf of the Department for Transport. TRL has data sharing agreements in place already with many NHS Trusts for research purposes.
