SHARP has been helping keep motorcycle users be safe since the helmet safety scheme was launched in 2007. Today, SHARP is asking for your assistance with an important initiative aimed at ensuring that safety in our riding community remains a priority for the next generation of riders.

We are conducting a survey about helmet usage, building on surveys previously done in 2015 and 2020. If you filled in these questionnaires – Thank you, it was worth it, as your answers shaped the SHARP helmet safety scheme. Your answers this time around will keep the scheme relevant as we plan for changes to the helmet testing process, and changes to the ways in which we educate riders about their choice of helmet. Knowing what and why you ride, and how and why and where you buy your helmet is essential to guide us in investing the government funding behind the SHARP scheme, to make it deliver on its promises.

We invite you to fill in the survey at this link. It takes only 15 minutes, and there is a chance to win one of three £50 vouchers to spend online or instore at Infinity Motorcycles into the bargain.

However, it’s the next generation of riders that we most want to hear from. Young people just starting to ride. Anyone preparing for their CBT. Or maybe not even riding yet, just thinking about it. Or maybe not “young” people at all, just people coming to motorcycle riding for the first time as a new hobby or commuting option. Or riders who just ride… but who are not connected to a club or group and who might only hear about SHARP through word of mouth.

By passing along this questionnaire you are championing a cause that has the power to save lives and shape the future of motorcycle riding. Each response contributes to a larger understanding of helmet usage patterns, attitudes to personal safety, and barriers; this is evidence that enables the government to invest in effective safety interventions that mean you ride home safely.

So, we are asking you to share this survey invitation with friends and family, colleagues and classmates, others you ride out with: we want to hear the views of a wide representation of riders. The more questionnaires are completed, the better SHARP will serve the needs of riders in the future. It’s a simple good deed, taking just 15 minutes.

The survey is only open to residents of Great Britain. However, the SHARP helmet safety scheme and our star ratings are of huge importance in countries around the world. You could call it an export success! So, although the survey results will only directly affect what happens in GB, the evolution of the scheme will also be beneficial to riders beyond our borders. If you ride abroad, this is another way to foster a safer riding experience for everyone, everywhere.
